A Moment for Just Us Two | Self-Portraits with My Middle Son
As a portrait and equine photographer, I’m usually the one behind the lens, capturing the fleeting moments between others. But recently, I carved out a quiet afternoon for something different: a chance to step in front of the camera with my middle son.
With my tripod set up in the backyard and the golden spring light filtering through the trees, we created something simple and beautiful together. No rushing, no pressure, just the two of us, soaking in a rare moment of connection. As a mom of three busy boys, these one on one times are few and far between, but always so meaningful.
I wanted to document more than just a smiling pose. I wanted to capture the way he melts into my arms, the soft kiss on his head, the calm in his eyes when he’s close to me. These photos are a reminder of how quickly time moves, how much love lives in the in-between moments.
For fellow mamas, let this be your nudge: step into the frame. Be present in the memories. Whether it’s with a professional photographer or a self-timer and a tripod, your story is worth telling, too.
